As you will know, competition in the restaurant sector is always fierce, added

The Wines & Spirits Education Trust, WSET, offers the only national and internationally recognised qualifications in wine and spirit education.

The qualifications are equivalent to NVQ status and are increasingly required by employers, seeking to fill job vacancies for positions in the wine and spirit industry.

Thanet College, located in Broadstairs Kent, provides the WSET Foundation course, level 2 Intermediate and Advanced level 3 courses.

The first course, the Foundation, provides individuals with basic but essential knowledge about correct storage and service of wine. The second, The Intermediate, is a stepping stone, leading to the Advanced Level 3 which together, ultimately provide people with an up to date, extensive knowledge and understanding of the principal global wine regions and their wine styles.

Essentially, Level 3 delivers extensive education to equip individuals with the knowledge to competently assess and evaluate wines and spirits.

Very importantly, the courses also look at the principles in food and wine matching.

For restaurant front staff and sommeliers, surely this is vital but also for mangers too, since the business of wine is also covered, looking at the commercial aspects of this fascinating and fast moving industry.
