Welcome to GlassForum's website on international artistic glass courses and events
GlassForum was founded in 1997 by Grete and Geir Morten Karlsen, and is situated on the island of Averoy off the north west coast of Norway, between the cities of Kristiansund and Molde. The company has for many years been offering events and classes with top international teachers covering a wide range of artistic glass techniques, but 2008 is the first year in which we are offering our programme to an international public. We are also very proud to present NICON artistic glass for the first time ever. Find out more below.

Courses and events at GlassForum do not merely involve learning about glass; they are also about meeting others with the same interest, and discovering the incredible beauty of Averoy, which has been justly called "a Norway in miniature." Here you will find the Atlantic ocean, fjords, valleys, mountains and especially in summer, lots of vivid colour. Although we don't have the midnight sun, during the months of May, June and July visitors can enjoy long days when the daylight never really completely fades. In mid summer, when the sunset on the sea is not until 11.30 p.m. the sun is just barely hidden below the horizon, so the nights never really become dark. Nowhere else will you find such tranquillity, as when sitting outside listening to the birds singing and the waves rolling lazily onto the beach. Here, real nature can be seen and heard. Course Programme 2008
All courses are held in our well-equipped glass studios on Averoy. Although all the international courses are taught in English, there is translation into Norwegian when necessary. NICON Artistic Glass 2008
NICON Artistic Glass 2008 is the first-ever Norwegian international conference on artistic glass. The conference is organized and hosted by GlassForum and aims to give glass artists, professionals, teachers, architects and others with a passion for glass a forum for perceiving, learning and developing a deeper understanding for glass as a media for art and art in architecture.
