MUZ:ART from Oslo to New York: April 30th to August 26th 2011

Oslo based Galleri Ramfjord opened its first New York exhibition at 6pm, Saturday April 30th, with Norwegian art photographer Ole Marius Jørgensen’s inspirational project Muz:art. Eirik Aasekjær Devold and Heming Valebjørg from the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra performed on the opening night! The exhibition will run to August 26th 2011   

Muz:art is a photoproject depicting musicians from the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra in their concert outfits. The artistic expression is defined by the use of humor, drama and dark undertones, which all are themes that define Ole Marius Jørgensen’s work. The exhibition has previously been shown at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Jørgensen has been represented by Galleri Ramfjord since 2007. He has studied in Trondheim, Norway and in Southhampton, England, and has held several exhibitions since his debut at Fotografiens Hus in Oslo in 2006.

On the opening night, the exhibition will be shown at the 44th floor in NYC-JC’s 70Greene location. After the opening night, the exhibition will be open by appointment, or to guests at NYC-JC Luxury Guest Suites.

  

NYC-JC  is a popular hotel with various locations in Jersey City, New York. The Hotel is owned by the Norwegian Jarl Haugedal, and contains beautiful apartments for hire. This particular project will take place at 70 Greene, which sports their luxurious Guest Suites.

Galleri Ramfjord is based in Oslo and specializes in contemporary art including painting, photography and sculpture. The Gallery was established by Elisabeth Ramfjord in 1998 and is currently representing approximately 20 artists. The focus is mainly on the development and support of new and talented artists, but the Gallery also continually looks to find new and exciting ways to promote and exhibit their artists. In the last few years, the Gallery has seen a number of new opportunities to exhibit Norwegian Art abroad, and wishes to pursue international cooperation in a larger scale in the future. In the fall of 2010 the gallery began working with Galerie Brandt in Amsterdam, and is currently looking forward to bringing a slice of Norway to the Big Apple.
