Silvia Defrance studied animation film at the Faculty of Fine Arts Ghent under the supervision of Raoul Servais. She accomplished digital video work for the Flemish radio and television broadcast VTM. She has worked for a number of years as guest lecturer at the animation studio at the art school of Sint-Lukas Brussels. She also worked as a researcher at the Royal Academy in Ghent, where she participated in the artistic research project on movement qualities in the audiovisual composition. During this
research she made a number of abstract experimental animation films. Currently she works on a personal research project: a Doctorate in the Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts Ghent. She also teaches in the master classes film theory based on principles of Gilles Deleuze. In her artistic Doctorate she is exploring and questioning narrative and non narrative film structures as well as in film theory as in her film practice. For the moment she is developing there a new film project: "Spymovie".
Film History: 1991: Full drawn animation film (student film): "Winston and Julia" (7 min) Award of encouragement "Legacy Charles de Leu" at the Academy of Fine Arts Ghent: KASK '91 - Award for the originalité at the Acharničre Festival (Lille - France) '93 - SABAM price at the International Filmfestival of Brussels '94 - Award for the best soundtrack for a short film by Cinema Jove (Valencia - Spain) '94 - Nominated at the Holland Animation Festival (Utrecht- Holland) '94 -Screened in "Best of the World" during the International Animation Festival (Hiroshima - Japan '94).
2005: An abstract painted Animationfilm: "Silvia's Bagatelle" (1,15 min).
2006: Several abstract experimental animationfilms such as: "Mixdown", "Floating Symphony", "Symphony in Red" published on the DVD: 'On audiovisual Composition"
2008: "Candy Darling" (26.30 min). A cross-over between live action and C.G.I. animated images. The first financed movie. Scripted, directed and produced by Silvia Defrance. | |

Jeffrey P. Nesker Jeffrey P. Nesker holds a B.F.A. from York University?s Department of
Film & Video. He has produced several low-budget Short Films, Music
Videos and Visual Wallpaper under the banner of Ocular Nutrition.
Nightclub Story (2008), his first 'proper' narrative Short Film opened doors
and won several awards, including a Special Mention in the 2009 Los Angeles
Short Film Festival. The follow-up, Apocalypse Story (2010), has just
been unleashed to the world.

International Jury Member Gastón Siriczman
He was born in Cordoba, Argentina. He is a teacher and theater author. As a filmmaker he has directed over forty short and medium-length films in 35mm and video, and also TV shows and publicity. His work is shown in international festivals and showcases, where he has also received awards and special mentions. His animation short film "Marcela" won the Annual Program Without Frontiers award at the 24th Festival de Cine Internacional de Mar del Plata, where it also received a Special Mention in the Argentinean Short Films category. The short films received the Best Direction award at the 2010 San Francisco Short Film Festival and the Best Art Direction at the Festival du Cinéma de Paris. | |
International Jury Member Baudouin du Bois
Baudouin du Bois is a belgian filmmaker. His film "Serial Killer" has won
the Special Jury Prize at the 3rd Show Me Shorts Film Festival in 2008,
as well as the Best Screenplay award at the New York Film Festival and the
Best Direction award at the Short Film Festival of Los Angeles.
It has been invited to participate on the screening "The Best Shorts of the World",
organized by the Annual Program Without Frontiers for the 25th Mar del Plata International Film Festival. This film is the second part of a special project about a french family's trip to
