Waste Segregation System
Every Bio-bin® supplied in accordance with the guidance set out in the Health Technical Memorandum 07-01: Safe Management of Healthcare Waste issued by the Department of Health .
This aims to standardise and simplify the segregation of infectious waste. We are expected to be separate waste at home and now the same applies in the work place.
This is aimed at saving costs as well as reducing the amount of waste that gets incinerated, helping the environment by reducing significant amounts of CO2 emissions.
For every tonne of plastic based waste that is incinerated 3 tonnes of CO2 is emitted into the atmosphere. By understanding the new guidance and implementing them, the majority of infectious waste can now be disposed of in orange bins which are then heat treated and sent to land fill. The only thing burnt is the gas that heats the water to create steam which treats the waste. Therefore the CO2 created is significantly reduced to 0.01 tonne. | | |
