A selection of antique chess pieces from around the world; Russia, England, France, Germany, Turkey, Ireland, Italy, Spain, & China.
Over the many centuries chess sets have been made from a wide range of materials from bone to wood.
The dates range from the 17th century through to the late 20th century.
Gifted to Richie by some dear friends many years ago and now displayed for the first time.
We will be selling various chess pieces, chess sets, part chess sets, books on the history of chess, and chess auction catalogues for the benefit of various projects at the hostel during 2010 and 2011.

The story of the development of calendars is facinating and will be highlighted with a range of antique brass perpetual calendars.
