The Borealis Navigation Simulator works as a "brick system" where you can use the same elements in different configurations.
The ARPA radar in a small, basic simulator is the same simulator module as the radar in a huge bridge simulator. This means that the customer can purchase what they need now, and be sure that when they need some extra features, either because of new regulations from IMO or new courses they want to offer, it is possible to add extra features to the already existing simulator - instead of starting from scratch.

The background for this training requirement is found in Code for Safe Working Practices for Merchant Seamen, consolidated edition 2002 (MCA). Seagull's Safety Officer Onboard Course Package provides the required knowledge, plus theoretical and practical skills to those who may be appointed as Safety Officer. The onboard course package includes: CBT #1, 2, 5, 53, 88 and 123 and a workbook of questions and practical exercises. The participant must complete all of these Seagull CBT modules, achieving at least 95% completion and a minimum test score of 75%. Participants must also answer all the relevant questions and complete exercises in the Safety Officer Workbook

 | Seagull Computer Based Training (CBT) for ECDIS training
Seagull's ECDIS Onboard Course Package provides knowledge, theoretical and practical skills to navigators who use Electronic Navigation Chart systems (ENC) or the Electronic Chart Display Systems (ECDIS). The onboard course package includes: (CBT #26) Voyage Planning; (CBT #59) Satellite navigation GPS; (CBT #64) ECDIS and a workbook of questions and practical exercises.
Course topics include: an introduction to ECDIS, chart accuracy, route planning programming and evaluation and practical use of ECDIS. The practical exercises will improve the working knowledge of onboard ECDIS system components such as the alarm and warnings system, steering system and system limitations and possibilities. These exercises are equally relevant for different EDCIS manufacturers and models.
Upon submission of a successfully completed course work, an ECDIS Certificate of Competence will be issued. To receive a certificate, the CBT training reports and answers to the practical questions and exercises should be submitted to Seagull for assessment and certification.
