The old Rootes car showroom and workshops in Mill Street Maidstone has now lost the Rootes name, but is still owned by Peugeot UK and is operated under the name of Robins & Day by Peugeot, not a franchise like most dealerships.

It is a great old building built for Rootes in 1938-39 by Howard and Souster and is now grade II listed due to its grand scale, town-centre location and picturesque setting adjacent to the River Len mill pond. When it was first opened it had 700ft of neon lights outlining the frontage and the 'ROOTES' name and was referred to as a ‘palace of modern motoring'.
