The 32 qualifiers for the Skol World Championships have been confirmed for the tournament at the Circus Tavern, Purfleet 28th December-4 January.
There are seven first timers in the competition, including Gayl King who will make history as the first ever woman to compete in a World Championship on an equal footing with the men.
Roland Scholten, Richie Burnett and Denis Ovens all appear at the Skol champs in 2000/01, after sitting out for a year under the Tomlin order. Gary Spedding, Les Fitton and Dave Askew all come straight in for their debuts.
Askew, at world number 8, will be seeded in the event, following his epic rise up the rankings over the past ten months and will be determined to make it past the first round, after going out early doors at Blackpool and Rosslare.
Paul Lim, who was forced to withdraw from the World Matchplay earlier this year due to immigration difficulties, makes his return to world competition. As does Cliff Lazarenko, who has come back from 41st place in the rankings to make the grade. Cliff missed out on the Matchplay and the Grand Prix due to a slump in form, but appears to be on the way back up again.
The draw will take place on Skysports.com on Thursday, 7th December and will be made by Alex Roy, Sid Waddell and Tommy Cox. planetdarts.co.uk will bring you details of the draw as it happens.
