English summary

BIFROST is the old Norse name for the rainbow between heaven and earth. A suitably colourful name for a company that spans the gap between foreign worlds of imagination and Norwegian daily life?

WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU?
I can deliver your message to Norwegians

That bridge is where I make my living, helping people who have something to say to Norwegians.

Do you want something changed into good, supple Norwegian? I've been doing just that for 35 years: translating any sort of English — enduring Shakespeare and Tolkien, as well as today's bestseller or computer manual. 140 full length literary translations altogether, and lots besides. Many kind words from satisfied critics at the back of this web site testify that I do a good job — pity you may not understand the language. Good thing I do.

Perhaps you need more than just a translation? Some underlying assumptions in your message might fit Norwegian cultural prejudices awkwardly; if so, I can tailor it to fit. I can proof-read for you and give general or specific advice, to make your Norwegian equal to the best. I can even arrange to have it printed in anything from 1 to 10.000 copies.

Do you want something translated into English? Then I'm not your man. I'm not a native speaker. * But I can forward your request to someone who is, and whose judgment I trust.

Do you need a film or TV voice-over 'versioned' in Norwegian? A demanding job, as your delivery must inspire trust in your listener. I know; I've done it for decades, for national TV and many others, with the kind of easy delivery people remember fondly years later. Or so they keep telling me.

Or do you simply need a presentable English-speaker in person? Say you're throwing a large party, seminar, or other public event — and who's to stand up and tie the bits together with a quip, or a tidbit from the Vikings? Or you need chaperoning a visiting dignitary? I can do either for you, in Norwegian and/or English, as I've done for a number of big event organizers here.

If you're looking for someone to help span the gap between an English-spoken message and a Norwegian audience, you need someone familiar with both worlds. I've done all of the above for many of the principal companies in Norway, in the cultural field and outside.

In other words, what I'm selling is my time and/or presence, and 35 years of trans-national knowledge and skills. I might be just your man. I'm not even outlandishly expensive. And asking me costs nothing at all.
